Stephanie “Steph” is on the right.. I’m on the left. She was my best friend and two years younger than I. She had an amazing laugh, funny smile and quirky personality. She is so incredibly missed! She sadly died by suicide on Jan 21, 2003. It’s still hard to believe some days. I have spent much of my adult life advocating and creating suicide prevention programming and speaking to young people about what they can do if or when they are faced with similar circumstances. Now that I have my own daughter, who is 4, I think of how I can make the world better everyday. Not only for my own child (and our miracle IVF babe on the way) but my students as well. She has left such a legacy and is so missed ❤️ -Melissa L.
